What does it mean?
As of 1/1/2017 United Healthcare ERA Payer ID Changing for Medicaid & Medicare Patients. For all practices that receive Electronic Remittance Advices (ERA aka EOBS), the payer ID has changed and your billing system needs to be updated if you want to continue to receive ERA’s as of 1/1/2017.
What do you have to do about it?
Nothing if you have a medical biller, they should take care of this for you. If you do not, contact your medical billing software company ASAP to make sure they are prepared for this update as of 1/1/2017 . You also need to update your medical billing system for Medicaid & Medicare patients with the new Payer ID Number 04657 for ERA receiving before you submit claims in 2017.
Does this affect Private Insurance?
No, only Medicaid and Medicare Patients as of 1/1/2017.
